David Mans is the founder of NeoArchaic Design, a collaborative design practice with a focus on geometry, computation, making, and a continuously evolving approach to design. Collaborating with contemporary digital architects, international firms and artists, developing and realizing a diverse scale of award winning designs as both a collaborator and co designer, he continuous to develop approaches to computational problem solving. As a Computation Design Specialist at Grimshaw Architects NYC he focuses on complex geometry, data management, and process development, collaborating on the development of the next generation of project delivery. In his teaching both at domestic and international institutions including Pratt Institute and City College of New York he focuses on enabling the next generation of design innovators with the skills to create and promote their ideas through computation, visualization and media. His academic, collaborative and professional works have been published internationally in venues including, Domus and A+U and he has been a designer on several award winning projects. Most notable of which are the Choice project by Evan Douglis Studio, a 2010 James Beard Award Finalist and 2010 AIA:LA Restaurant Design Award Winner and S.A.H.M.R.I . by Woods Bagot, winner of 5 South Australian Architecture Awards. As a Designer, Developer and Educator he continues to interrogate the relationship between a digital practice and material application across a diverse scale of design typologies and architectural concerns with a focus on synthesizing mathematics, poetics, and environments into articulated bodies of design.
